Our Journey
Orange Audio was established by Rick Thompson in 2001. With more than 50 years of experience in the entertainment industry, Rick brought a wealth of knowledge and passion to the company, guiding its steady growth from humble beginnings. Rick’s career began in 1972 at London’s Victoria Palace Theatre London, where he worked on iconic productions like the Black & White Minstrel Show, Sing Along with Max (Max Bygraves), Carry On London (featuring Sid James, Dame Barbara Windsor, and others), and Hi-de-Hi! stage show.
During his time at the Victoria Palace, Rick witnessed the evolution of sound reinforcement technology first-hand. He honed his skills in on-stage sound monitoring and front-of-house sound, always prioritizing the performer’s needs and enhancing the audience’s experience.
Broad Expertise
In the 1980s and 1990s, Rick expanded his expertise, working as a freelance sound engineer on tours and productions for Thames Television, the National Theatre, and various prominent artists and shows. These experiences instilled in him the importance of professionalism, teamwork, and cutting-edge equipment, which became the foundation for Orange Audio’s ethos.
With the launch of new broadcasting franchises in the early 1990s, Rick seized the opportunity to establish Orange Audio. Over the years, the company has grown into a trusted partner for the entertainment and music industries, offering everything from sound reinforcement for live events to the sales of professional audio equipment.
